D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan Technical University (EKTU) is a basic engineering university of Kazakhstan, a center for generating new knowledge and innovations, located in the large administrative, industrial center of East Kazakhstan, Ust-Kamenogorsk. It is located at the junction of the borders of Russia, China, and Mongolia. The university has a 60-year history of training highly qualified engineering personnel.

1958 - Ust-Kamenogorsk Road Construction Institute (UKRCI) was established by the Resolution of the USSR Ministers Council dated August 5, No. 866, and the Resolution of the Kazakh SSR Ministers Council dated August 30, No. 765.

1987 - the university's first certification was carried out, confirming its strong place among the country's leading universities.

1996 - UKRCI was reorganized into East Kazakhstan Technical University by the Government Decree of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated May 7, No. 573. At the university's request, it was named by the first rector Daulet Serikbayev by the Government Decree of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated 3.11.1997, No. 1485.

1999 - the university has established a college based on the order of the Education and Science Ministry of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 340 dated 28.07.1999, teaching secondary special education programs, which graduates can continue their studies at the university.

1999 - the university has opened a military department based on the Government Decree of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 1319 dated 07.09.99. "On the establishment of a military department at the EKTU", Order of the Defense Ministry of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 155 dated 04.10.99 "On the implementation of the Government Decree of the Republic of Kazakhstan", order of the Rector of the D. Serikbayev EKTU No. 247 dated 29.10.99 "The opening of the military department at D. Serikbayev EKTU."

2001 - D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan Technical University was renamed the Republican State-Owned Enterprise "D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan State Technical University" (EKSTU).

2006 - EKTU was among the first universities in Kazakhstan to introduce and certify a quality management system (QMS). Certificate of Conformity No. 20688, dated March 21, 2006, was issued by the British company NQA GLOBAL ASSURANCE for compliance with the requirements of ISO 9001:2008.

In 2012 the Republican State-Owned Enterprise "D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan State Technical University" was transformed into a Republican State Enterprise on the Right of Economic Use "D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan State Technical University" by the Government Decree of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 544 dated 28.04.2012.

2020 – the Republican State Enterprise on the Right of Economic Use "D. Serikbayev EKSTU" was transformed into a Non-profit Joint Stock Company "D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan Technical University" based on the Order of the State Property and Privatization Committee of the Finance Ministry of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 345 dated June 2, 2020 "On the establishment of a Non-profit Joint Stock Company "D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan Technical University", certificates of state re-registration of a legal entity dated 06/24/2020.

D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan Technical University, among the first universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan, has implemented an anti-corruption management system conforming to the international standard ISO 37001:2016. In December 2021, the university successfully passed the international certification for compliance of the anti-corruption management system with the requirements of ISO 37001:2016, and received a certificate. The IQNet (Quality Austria) certification mark was also awarded.

The last recertification audit of the management system (QMS) for compliance with the requirements of the international standard ISO 9001:2015 was successfully completed from December 19 to December 21, 2022. The audit was carried out by leading auditors of the international certification body Quality Austria.

From December 18 to 20, 2023, the University underwent inspection audits of the functioning of the Quality Management System for compliance with the requirements of the international standard ISO 9001:2015 and the Anti-Corruption Management System for compliance with the requirements of the international standard ISO 37001:2016.

The audit was carried out by leading auditors of the international certification body Quality Austria.

Based on the results of the audits, no inconsistencies were identified.
