1) The use of energy-efficient appliances

The priority in the energy saving policy is to replace old lighting and equipment with new energy-efficient appliances. This includes replacing the lighting in halls, classrooms and workrooms with LED lamps. The university aims to achieve 100% in the replacement of lighting fixtures.

When purchasing new equipment, office equipment, and equipment for dormitories, the energy efficiency requirement of at least Class A must be met.

2) Reduction of thermal energy consumption due to an automated thermal unit

Automated thermal installations were installed in 2020. They regulate the heating temperature depending on the outside air temperature. The installation of thermal nodes on all campuses by the end of 2023 has reduced thermal energy consumption by 22%.

EKTU plans to install automated heating units in all buildings managed by the university.

3) The introduction of an Smart building

Our university uses: Building Management System (BMS) and Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Building Automation System (BAS). The Smart Campus systems at our university are being improved every year.

Smart building implementation: 95.55%

The University continues to improve the Smart Campus system, including more controlled parameters and the development of an E-monitoring system.

4) Elements of the introduction of “green” construction, the organization of natural lighting of corridors, the replacement of massive doors with doors with a glass insert. Organization of transparent partitions.

During repairs and reconstructions of buildings, elements of natural lighting should be introduced. The conversion takes place during scheduled repairs.

5) Renewable energy sources and their capacity

  • 2 solar systems: The main building and the SEC "Prostor".
  • SEC "Prostor" has 2 TPSSR-7 heat pumps with UKTN-1 controllers and MITSUBISHI LNB53 compressors designed for hot water preparation.

Renewable energy sources provide 14.65% of the energy demand.

According to the roadmap for the implementation of the activities of the strategic development program for 2025-2029 under the section "Sustainable Development", it is planned to create a specialized class "Green Technologies", equipped, among other things, with alternative energy sources and ICT tools for their control.

6) Energy saving

Thanks to the implementation of energy saving programs, by the end of 2023, energy savings on campus reached 39%. EKTU intends to ensure further energy savings.
