On February 01, 2013 at 15.00 the East Kazakhstan museum of Arts opens an exposition “Ust-Kamenogorsk Architectural School: Traditions and Innovation", devoted to the 50th anniversary of architectural education in East Kazakhstan. The Painting, Graphics and Projects of students of the specialties "Architecture" and "Design" EKSTU of D. Serikbayev will be presented.

In 1964 on the basis of UK HCEI (Ust-Kamenogorsk Highway and Civil Engineering Institute) the first architecture department in the Kazakhstan was established.  In 1989 the specialty "Art Design of City, Rural and Park Ensembles" (now "Design of the Architectural Environment") was open, and in 1998 preparation of students on specialization "Design of Clothes" began.

During years of work the Ust-Kamenogorsk architectural school developed the recognizable style, the certificate to that are awards and diplomas of the highest degrees on the international competitions. In 50 years of the existence the faculty nearly 3000 specialists – architects, designers of interior and clothes were trained. Our graduates can deal with project, educational, research and cultural work not only within the country, but also abroad.

Architectural and design education is a complex system of knowledge: technical, arts and art education. For design of the building or an interior are equally necessary both art taste, and knowledge of construction and ability to conduct preliminary researches. For creation of clothes it is also necessary to have volume and spatial thinking, feelings of a proportion and color therefore the design of clothes is studied within architectural disciplines.

Irrespective of the chosen specialty and the specialization, all students get an education on basic art disciplines. It is Drawing, Painting, Sculpture, Architectural Composition, Architectural Graphics and Modeling.  The main discipline on all courses is Architectural or Design Projecting.

Works of students on disciplines: Painting, Drawing, Architectural and Design Projecting Graphics and Modeling, Chromatics, and also Diploma Projects are presented to exposition. Studying and drawing of Orders demands from students of accuracy, concentration of attention, knowledge of bases of mathematics, for Painting and a Chromatics the intuition, emotions, coloring is more important. All this in aggregate is necessary for full architectural education.

In a series of works on the Painting performed students of 2 and 3 courses presented the stylized compositions and still lifes. Works on drawing are performed by students of 2 and 3 rates at plein-air practice. Works on Architectural or Design Projecting of students of 1-5 courses are academic year projects on different themes ("Orders", "Fonts", "Perspective of an architectural monument in an environment", "A small architectural form", "Country house", "School", etc.).

         Specialization "Design of Clothes" is presented by the graduated project of "Sarafaniya", a collection of models of clothes to "Frivolite", and also works of students of the 2nd course on a theme "A historical suit in dolls".

         The exhibition is devoted to the 50th anniversary of the Ust-Kamenogorsk architectural school on the basis of UK HCEI, and today EKSTU of D. Serikbayev.  We hope the exhibition will interest all who is connected with the East Kazakhstan architectural school – today's, former and future students, architects and designers, teachers, and also everything who appreciates creativity, beauty and harmony!

with 9.00 till 18.00 (Friday, Saturday and Sunday – till 17.00).
