Within the framework of the Antikor.Live project, a live broadcast was held with the first vice-rector of EKTU after D. Serikbayev, Commissioner for Ethics and Anti-Corruption, Candidate of Technical Sciences Rakhmetullina Saule on the topic "Corruption risks when entering universities".
Rakhmetullina Saule has been working in the field of education for more than 30 years. During the live broadcast, she told about the history of the creation of the university, the work carried out to prevent corruption and eliminate the risks of it.
"The University was founded in 1958 as a road construction institute to provide engineering personnel to the national economy of the USSR. These are civil and industrial construction, construction of highways, bridges, and tunnels.
Over the years of independence, taking into account the specific needs of the regional economy, new areas of training have been opened. These are geology and mining, metallurgy and enrichment, mechanics and metalworking, information and communication technologies.
Today, the university implements 45 basic bachelor degree programs in the main areas of the regional economy," vice-rector Rakhmetullina noted.
Of course, the training of specialists is possible only in an environment without corruption. The key task of the university is to create a moral social environment - a "Respectable University".
The University's integrity strategy is implemented through the main principles: responsibility, transparency, consistency, involvement, and openness.
The main goal of the integrity policy is to increase the level of trust in the activities of the EKTU by creating a "Territory of Integrity".
"We promote academic integrity, scientific ethics, and personal responsibility of each manager for their actions and the actions of their subordinates. The Code of Academic Integrity and ethics rules have been adopted. An authorized person for ethics and anti-corruption has been appointed," S. Rakhmetullina noted.
When asked what corruption risks there are when entering a university, the speaker replied, "When entering universities, of course, there are corruption risks. The first risk when passing the UNT: the use of prohibited items or the involvement of unauthorized persons in the UNT. There is also a risk of incorrect acceptance of documents by the admissions committee. For example, college graduates can enroll in reduced forms of study only in their field, and there are corruption risks too."
