Back in 2015, world leaders adopted the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, committing to creating a better future for all. However, as of today, the fulfillment of the targets according to the UN report on the 17 SDGs until 2030 can be estimated at only 17%.

October 4, 2024 RSE “Kazakhstan Institute of Standardization and Metrology (KAZSTANDART)” Committee for Technical Regulation and Metrology of the Ministry of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the eve of the World Standardization Day held a training seminar for teaching staff on the topic “Standards in support of SDGs”.
It should be noted that D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan Technical University, being a flagship among Kazakhstani universities on the introduction of international standards of ISO series, in its strategic development program for 2023-2029 as one of the target indicators adopted the indicator “Formation of modern management system based on world standards (ISO 9001, ISO 37001, ISO 31000, ISO 27001, ISO37101,ESG,CDIO)”. /abouttheuniversity/passport.aspx?lang=ru The University already meets international requirements and has international certification according to such standards as ISO 9001, ISO 37001, which establish requirements for quality management system and anti-corruption management system.
ISO 37101 establishes general principles and requirements for sustainable development management system in communities. EKTU plans to implement a sustainable development management system compliant with international requirements by 2029.
Today, our university is rightfully considered a “green” university that pays great attention to the goals of sustainable development, which is confirmed by high positions in global world rankings on sustainable development (Green Metric, THE Impact, etc.).
In order to strengthen development in the area of achieving the UN SDGs, this year a sustainable development office headed by a Sustainability Officer was introduced into the university’s organizational structure./sdgs.aspx.
