On March 1, in the main educational building of the EKSTU named after D. Serikbayev the Technovation Challenge Seminar took place.
Technovation Challenge is the technological and entrepreneurship international program for girls, which mission is to increase interest of girls in the field of IT and entrepreneurship.
Within the framework of this program, schoolgirls, under the supervision of the Technovation Challenge’s mentors, develop the mobile app with social importance in such fields as education, health, peace, poverty alleviation, social equality, and environment. Results of the work will be presented as the prototype of the mobile app on the regional contest in Kazakhstan. Its’ finalists will have opportunity to compete for the right to travel to the finals of the contest in San Francisco, USA (due to the inviting party). The prize fund for the implementation of the application is $ 10,000.
Knowledge and experience of the programming are unnecessary. Participation is free. Duration is from January 1 to April 26, 2018.
In order to prepare EKSTU’s Teams and mentors to the competition, three training seminars in the period from September 2017 to April 2018 will take place in Kazakhstan under supervision of regional representative of “Technovation Challenge,” Diana Tsoy. Seminars are organized as a part of the “Support girls into STEM careers through Technovation” program due to the grant from the US Embassy in Kazakhstan for graduates of US scholarship programs.
Seminars’ purpose is to support women and girls in the development of their career in the fields of science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and entrepreneurship via participation in the global competition, Technovation Challenge.
