In the period from February 28 to March 11, 2018, in Pavlodar VII-winter student's Universiade of RK took place.

The competition was attended by students from 40 higher educational institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The team of the East Kazakhstan State Technical University named after D. Serikbayeva took part in such sports as ski races, winter sports orienteering, winter presidential all-around, basketball, arm wrestling, powerlifting, futsal, Kazak қүresi and took the honorable 5th place among 40 universities, having won 2 silver and 11 bronze medals.

The preparation of the teams was conducted under the supervision of the head of the department, head coach of the East Kazakhstan region in volleyball among young men, national judge of the highest category, B. Daumova, and teachers of the Department of Physical Education and Sports EKSTU, who have extensive experience in coaching.

Teams for skiing, winter sports orienteering, winter presidential all-round were prepared by Dusupov B., Bekbosynov S., Shimin E., Associate Professor Asmolova L.A. Basketball - by the Maksutov S., Kanapianov B., Sycheva G. Kазақ күресі and arm wrestling by the Ramazanov R., Elyubaev D. Futsal, Asylbekov B. Powerlifting by the Sabitov M., Baideldinova L .
