The beginning of the academic year at the university was marked by one more important event: official ceremony of signing of Memorandum of understanding between the University of Applied Sciences Amberg- Weiden, Germany and D.Serikbayev East-Kazakhstan State Technical University. It was attended by the Nurlan Temirbekov, Rector of EKSTU, Nikolay Linok, Vice Rector for Educational and Methodical Work, Gabit Mukhamediev, Dean of Department of Information Technology and Power Engineering, Natalya Denisova, Head of "Information Systems" sub-department.

The German side was represented by Nailja Luth, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor of the University of Applied Sciences Amberg- Weiden. It is her second visit to EKSTU with the aim to participate in the program of Ministry of Education and Science "Attracting of foreign scientists and consultants to the leading universities of Kazakhstan." The first visit of Prof. Luth to our university was in September, 2012. This academic year, like it was last year, Professor Luth gives lectures the topic of which is "Computer vision" for undergraduate and doctoral students at EKSTU, conducts research with the staff of "Information Systems" sub-department and is a scientific advisor of the doctoral students for this sub-department

It should be noted that thanks to the assistance of Prof. Luth one student and one graduate student of the "Information Systems" sub-department will study at the University of Applied Sciences Amberg-Weiden within academic mobility program starting from October of this year.

After festive signing of Memorandum of understanding between the two universities and cementing agreement by firm handshake, the two sides expressed the hope that this cooperation will be very fruitful.
