The Webometrics Ranking of the World Universities ranks universities every six months using independent, objective, free, open scientific research to provide reliable, multidimensional, up-to-date and useful information on the performance of universities worldwide.
According to the results published on July 22, 2024, D. Serikbaev EKTU significantly improved its position in the Webometrics ranking compared to the previous years. At the same time, the overall rank increased by 601 points!!! This allowed us to move from position 4489 in the world ranking to position 3888 among about 32,000 ranked universities from more than 200 countries. That is, our university is among the first 12% of the best universities in the world.
At the country level, in six months we entered the TOP-4,giving way to such universities as Nazarbayev University, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, and L.Gumilyov Eurasian National University.
It should be noted that the Webometrics ranking is not just a ranking of university websites, but a ranking of universities based on their webometric and bibliometric indicators, including research activities. The main goal of the ranking is to promote open access to knowledge created by the university.
Competing, maintaining positions, and even more so making significant breakthroughs is becoming increasingly difficult every year, as the number of universities ranked in the world rankings is growing annually. Over the past two years, D. Serikbayev EKTU has been pursuing an active policy of transforming into a research university. The correctly chosen course and global support for science from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan allows making a scientific and technological breakthrough and conducting research at the global level, increasing the recognition of the university and its position in global university rankings.
