The International Symposium on Strategy and Transformation Management for Tertiary Education (ISSTM-TEd 2024), organized by Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) and D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan Technical University (EKTU), is currently taking place in Malaysia.

This Symposium serves as a continuation of the International Conference "ENGINEERING EDUCATION: CHALLENGES, TRENDS, BEST PRACTICES (EE: CTBP)," held at EKTU on October 3-4, 2024. ISSTM-TEd 2024 has brought together leading experts in higher education to explore university strategy transformations and the integration of digital innovations.

Keynote Speakers:

  • YBhg. Professor Datin Dr. Suzana Sulaiman, J.M.N, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic & International) UiTM, discussed how artificial intelligence is reshaping learning processes, supporting and enhancing educators' work, and enabling the creation of more personalized and effective academic programs.
  • Professor Dr. Kim Dale, Assistant Vice Principal (International), University of Dundee (UK) highlighted the role of education in improving lives locally and globally through the creation, dissemination, and application of knowledge.
  • Professor Dr. Muhammad Tufail, Dean, NED University of Engineering and Technology (Pakistan) focused on shaping higher education through digital transformation and policy implementation.
  • Professor Dr Gretchen Geng, Flinders University (Australia) shared insights on using augmented reality technologies in education.
  • Associate Professor Dr. Zhadyra Konurbayeva, Member of the Board and Vice-Rector for Science and Innovation at EKTU, presented an analysis of how sustainable development trends and technological innovations influence the advancement of engineering education and its adaptation to future demands.

The Symposium's parallel sessions featured a wide range of topics, including risk management, organizational change, digital transformation, and educational innovations. These discussions provided participants with the opportunity to exchange experiences and best practices in higher education.

Researchers from the grant-funded national program on scientific and technical development (2023-2025), project number BR21882257 «Constructing a national engineering education model in response to sustainable development goals», presented their findings. Oxana Denisova, Madina Yussubaliyeva and Saltanat Suieubayeva discussed several key aspects, such as the role of practice-oriented engineering education in developing essential skills for future professionals, the digital accessibility of university websites, and the relationship between enterprises' innovation activity and the population's digital literacy in Kazakhstan.

Digital technologies, such as artificial intelligence and augmented reality, are becoming integral to educational processes.

Inclusive educational policies play a crucial role in creating equal opportunities for all students, promoting diversity, and ensuring equity in the learning environment.

Implementing data and information management practices is essential for enhancing the quality of strategic decision-making in universities.

The participants emphasized the importance of integrating sustainable practices into higher education and stressed the need to adopt innovative technologies and strategies to improve education quality.

ISSTM-TEd 2024 has become a vital platform for discussing the adoption of digital technologies and sustainable development in educational processes. The Symposium will be held annually to foster ongoing knowledge exchange and address pressing issues in higher education.
